New Years Eve in Vienna / Silvester in Wien

The time between Christmas and New Years Eve is something special in Vienna. Within the last Years my hometown has become one of the most wanted travel locations in Europe to celebrate the New Year. The reservations start early in the End of August and this year were all our apartments booked at the End of October! In the most upper class hotels the situation is similar. In the first week of November were press relases that the 5-star Hotels in Vienna are completly booked for December and New Year.

The most people come from our big neighbour Germany. Vienna is very popular in Italy too. we still have many requests for an “apartment for capodanno in vienna”, but as said before we are completly booked . I am sure that the requests will continue and become even more until the last day before New Years Eve …

Sightseeing: Mozart House Vienna

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the largest music genius of Austria, is connected in the thoughts of many with its birth city Salzburg. But also in the imperial hometown Vienna he spent many years and died here at the age of only 35 years.

During his time in Vienna Wolfgang Mozart, as he usually called himself, moved more than 10 times. Mozart was a living man and the made money had usually disappeared soon again. In its best time he inhabited the Beletage of the cathedral lane (Domgasse) 5. This is the last received dwelling of Mozart. On the occasion of 250 the birthday – which is called Mozart year 2006 – in the cathedral lane 5 the Mozart house Vienna, a Museum with lots of information about Mozart, was opened.

On 4 floors an extensive picture on the music genius with emphasis on its Viennese years is ordered. Beside the former dwelling, unfortunately without the original furniture, visitor finds much information about the Mozarts’ life style, its to sponsors and its works.

Hello everyone !

Well, the name of that blog shows its future content – all information regarding sightseeing in Vienna. I want to give all necessary information you will need for your trip to my wonderful hometown. This is a blog, so the information is getting straight out of my brain to this site without a lot of thinking and structuring. I have set several categories so it will not be a complete mess .

A little information about me: I was born in Vienna and live since 20 years in a suburb. It is a real pitty that all of us are traveling through the whole world to see fantastic things, but we do not even really know our hometown. In the last 2 years I try to have a look where I go in Vienna and to get some historical background about my city. My interest started when my family launched a new project – Vienna City Flats. That is a small private apartment rental  in the inner city where I do my best to help my father. On the german Part of our website I often write about Sightseeing and here I want to do the same, but in English.
